Placement to deter squirrels: The key to keeping a bird feeder successfully squirrel-proofed is
the placement. Place your bird feeder 4 feet from the ground and 8 feet from anything a squirrel can jump from.
When hanging from a pole by a hook, it is recommended that the hook have at least a 16” distance from the pole.
Placing a baffle on the pole or having a caged feeder will also help to ensure squirrel-proof success.
Cleaning: Dirty bird feeders spread disease. We recommend cleaning your feeders weekly, or
monthly at a minimum. Do not put your feeder in the dishwasher as the high temperatures can permanently damage the
feeder parts. Clean your feeders outdoors with a large bucket, and always wear gloves when cleaning. Soak your
feeder in a 9:1 solution of water and bleach for 15 minutes. Then use a bird feeder brush to scrub the feeder with
dish soap and water. Refill when completely dry.
This feeder has worked great for several seasons, but just now both ports have been pried out by some critters (or maybe the weather) If placed correctly, mammal raiders have a very hard time getting to it and holding on. I mistakenly placed it near a branch, and a couple of racoons would sit there, holding the feeder horizontally, dumping out the seed and eating at night. It still survived and worked well, when I finally moved it. One port went missing, so last summer duct tape held it together. It's a good investment. I'm looking for parts now. BTW, a nice feature includes that the top will fit sideways inside the tube after you get those washers up and out of the way. That allows you to pour seed in several time without touching the feeder again, except to close it.
I don't know that it is really a squirrel deterrent...our squirrels seem to manage just fine. As a matter of fact...one of those fat jerks broke the perch...the piece of plastic that attaches to the underside of the feeder snapped...now I have to try and get a replacement!

So far, the squirrels have been unable to access this feeder. I note some of these feeders have two wires that come to the top. Hopefully that’s an improved feature, as ours only has one, which makes it turn if there is any wind. Took awhile for the birds to like it, but they habituated to it.
I would buy again, but if you’re buying one spend the extra money & go for more feeding ports.
Do not now why this bird feeder dose not have five (5) star from everyone. This is by far the best bird feed With Collapsible Perches for Squirrels. Squirrels have no chance to get to my bird seed. Just wish the items were not so expensive so I could buy more.
This feeder has met my expectations. The birds like it. The squirrels like it too. Unfortunately, we are not able to hang it where they can’t get to it. However, the tube is long enough that they can’t reach the seed while hanging from the top. They are able to lunge out from the pole and hold on to the seed hole and get some seeds. Being fully stretched out this is a difficult maneuver and they cannot sustain it for very long. This is fine with me, since they are entertaining and only get a little seed at a time, most of which falls on the ground, so the birds get it there anyway. I am happy with this feeder so far.
Feeder ports fall out causing all the seed to fall to the ground. Connection between the ports is too short and does not fully secure them.
Make it a little better and charge an extra few dollars.
